We are moving an earlier comment sent to the About Us page and putting it here. Both sides are welcome to comment.
Thank you to the author for the below comment. It helps people understand that many feel that this ruling does violate the right to practice a religion by forcing the participation in practices that go counter to several faiths, whose beliefs include that taking the life of a child is wrong regardless if the child has been born or is yet to be born.
Ann Marie Bowen on March 8, 2012 at 8:01 PM said: There is no way to say more strongly how much we are confused, disappointed, disgusted and shocked, by the unAmerican act of a mandate from our national HHS, that forces non-profit and even religious entities to pay for, through their insurance plans chemicals that do not cure a woman of any disease, but the sole purpose is to abort her unborn child. This is nothing but an intrusion into the religious rights, of our nations citizens. Besides coercing those who understand that the chemicals in Ella, Plan B and RU486 and other abortifacients, not only take the life of an unborn human, but harm women, even cause death.
LB 239, the Voter ID Bill, failed to pass. Several amendments were introduced before the final vote.
Volunteers are still needed to help with the blog and regular postings. Ideally, at least one person from each party and one independent to help keep blogging and reporting balanced.
We also need help finding people to blog or be interviewed on the following topics and positions:
TransCanada Keystone XL Pipeline-Pro Needed
TransCanada, US Chamber of Commerce, the Nebraskan Chamber of Commerce and others in favor of the pipeline have been contacted but have chosen not to contribute to the discussion. It has been important from the beginning of the blog to have different sides and aspects and issues represented. Unfortunately, that is not always possible. If anyone would like to help with this project find persons to interview in favor of the pipeline, please contact us at email@example.com
LB 239- Pro Needed
HHS Ruling- Pro Needed
We have one person that might write against this ruling focusing on how it is wrong to treat new human life as a disease and how the ruling violates the First Amendment.
LB 1161– Legal Commentary, Pro and Con Needed
An attorney is needed to discuss if provisions in the bill would render null the bills that came out of Special Session. Pro and con are also needed.
We are also accepting guest bloggers and interview requests from sides previously represented with different approaches to the same side of an issue.
