Apologies

Our apologies for having such a long break from reporting events due to family illnesses and deaths.

We are still looking for volunteers to help with this blog. Ideally, we get a balance of volunteers that are from  different parties and independents to help keep reporting on this blog as neutral as possible giving the opportunity for different sides and aspects of an issue to speak freely.

Volunteers and Guest Bloggers Needed

Volunteers are still needed to help with the blog and regular postings. Ideally, at least one person from each party and one independent to help keep blogging and reporting balanced.

We also need help finding people to blog or be interviewed on the following topics and positions:

TransCanada Keystone XL Pipeline-Pro Needed

TransCanada, US Chamber of Commerce, the Nebraskan Chamber of Commerce and others in favor of the pipeline have been contacted but have chosen not to contribute to the discussion. It has been important from the beginning of the blog to have different sides and aspects and issues represented. Unfortunately, that is not always possible. If anyone would like to help with this project find persons to interview in favor of the pipeline, please contact us at in**@ne***************.com

LB 239- Pro Needed

HHS Ruling- Pro Needed

We have one person that might write against this ruling focusing on how it is wrong to treat new human life as a disease and how the ruling violates the First Amendment.

LB 1161– Legal Commentary, Pro and Con Needed

An attorney is needed to discuss if provisions in the bill would render null the bills that came out of Special Session. Pro and con are also needed.

We are also accepting guest bloggers and interview requests from sides previously represented with different approaches to the same side of an issue.

TransCanada Keystone XL Pipeline: Update and Petition

The debate and battle over the TransCanada Keystone XL Pipeline continues with efforts in the Senate to this via Senator John Hoeven (R-ND) with an amendment to the transportation bill.

The bill summary & status information  for S.2041 is located here: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/D?d112:4:./temp/~bdwpPi::

Those opposed to the pipeline began an online petition campaign.  They were requesting 500,000 people to sign. The timeline for this was very brief, 24 hours.   This goal was reached in much less than that time but they asked people to continue past the goal.

Update: As of 5:30 PM Eastern, 798,464 have signed.

You can read petition here: http://act.credoaction.com/campaign/kxl_24hours/?rc=fb_share1
